- Twenty Twenty Six!

Hey, I'm back!

Technically, I've been back since last week, messing around with background stuff.

Now I'm officially back, which a more important and professional way of being back and comes with certain responsibilities I wanted to avoid for a bit longer, but eh, sooner I get started the sooner I get used to it again.

First Responsibility: New Year's Report

How was your end / start of year, dear reader? I hope you had a good time. Mine was middling, if you ignore the incredible political dread when one of the world's top military powers decided to start an incursion on a neighboring country over naked self interest after a year of threats against mine. Played a lot of games late December, got a little bored, so I watched a couple shows ,read a couple things. Nothing too exciting.

Made some good progress into shaving down my Tuber's Watch Later list! Thing grew immense since I kept stockpiling anything and everything that slightly caught my eyes, but little by little I'm shaving off the mountain.

Also, remember my D key issues last year? If not, maybe you should follow me on Social Media, but if you do, here's an update: my W broke down twice as hard, so hard using WASD became hell. Well, no more! I've bought a new keyboard!

And it kinda sucked, at first. It's this wee mechanical gamer thing I got both to save on money and because I wanted to know what's the big deal about mechanical keyboards. it needs a lot of fiddling to suit my needs: doesn't have independent arrow keys, no numpad, and doesn't have a native "Ç." Imagine that! No "Ç!"

But it taught me a bit about keyboards, too. Did you know that Windows + Space changes your keyboard language layout, so long as you have your desired languages set up? I didn't. If I needed to use IME, I just clicked, and if I needed a wheel I would beat a rock around until it started rolling. I've left the cave now, saw the sun burn bright above my head, watched my shadow creep, and punctuated my every html closing tag with ctrl + V because I can either have a "/" Key or an "Up" Key and the latter is is more useful to my pipeline.

Alas, knowledge has its limits. Nothing can ever be done about this, surely.

And Re: Mechanical Keyboards, once you start getting used to them they are actually very pleasurable? The polite term would be comfortable, but it actually feels really good the way it goes clackity-clack when I'm typing. Can't unfeel how the Old Lady's defaults barely sunk under my finger, so no regrets on the enhancements.

Well, enough about me, you are here for mine

Second Responsibility: Updates

This is going to be a short one since I've mostly been pretty transparent with my plans and not much changed since I last wrote them, but to reiterate:

  • My current focus is on Heaven in Cilifus. An early February launch should still be viable, I think? Most of the work left is building backlog, but it's not like I went into MAIT with a huge one and got out the other end mostly fine.
  • Speaking of MAIT, I'm afraid I don't have any solid schedule for when I'm starting Arc 3's next editing pass. It's going to need some good polishing, but it should at least be closer to my current standards (fingers crossed, knock on wood).
  • My idea of joining the Royal Roads with a completely off the cuff novel just for fun is still up in the air. Will I find a spot in my schedule to fit it in? If I do find one, would you guys even be interested in that? There's still plenty time to think about it, and it doesn't need to be very next one either.
  • Visual updates to the site will continue, of course. Extra credit to everyone who noticed I've been changing a lot of background colors for gradients since last December. The plan is to convert everything to gradients by the middle of this year, even you.

Four tiny bullet points but a whole lot of long term commitment, except the Writathon, which realistic is also the least likely to come true.

Third Responsibility: ????

I came up with a great bit for this one but I forgot it while washing the dishes. Sorry!

I do need to post more social media. Last year I tried posting a lot of inanities to fill otherwise dead space, but is this really what people want to see?

I'll take the silence as a "maybe."

Fourth responsibility: Avoid the Loathsome Number

Anyway, before I start ranting because I've ran out of things to say, let me thank you for reading this far.

Heaven in Cilifus is coming out soon and I hope you will be there to enjoy it. I've put a lot of work into it, so much it's been making me a little queasy, but I'm choosing to trust my ability to deliver something you will enjoy.

Until then, I hope you have a nice January, and let us meet again on the battlefield. See you!
